Jose Valera represents companies in commercial transactions, with particular emphasis on technology and intellectual property-based transactions, services agreements, government procurement, litigation, intellectual property protection, and technology licensing.
Jose also specializes in providing executive leadership, strategic legal advice, and in-house counsel to both start-ups and late state companies. Jose currently serves as the fractional General Counsel for one of his clients, Mach Industries Inc. At Mach Industries, as with his previous in-house counsel roles, Jose leads the establishment of both legal and human resource functions, coordinates the implementation of commercial and government contracts, oversees intellectual property procurement and provides overall corporate risk management.
As fractional General Counsel, Jose also manages all outside counsel, including experts in government procurement, ITARs and FAA compliance, data protection and privacy, litigation, real estate, and immigration law. Jose has also led M&A efforts as both in-house counsel and as a Chief Executive Officer.
Prior to joining Huggins Reddien LLP, Jose was Chief Legal Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, and ultimately Chief Executive Officer at moovel North America, a Daimler / BMW owned technology company. Prior to moving in-house with moovel, Jose was an intellectual property litigation associate with Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati PC in the Austin, Texas office.
Jose received his law degree from The University of Texas School of Law. He received his B.S. in Computer Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
